Historical Background:

In the beginning, most members of the present day Salvation Church of India were in the Salvation Army, India Eastern Territory, having Territorial Headquarters at Aizawl, Mizoram.

As known well by common people, The Salvation Army is an Episcopal in its administrative structure. At the same time, many of its members in the territory, especially lay people were eager to partly adapt with a bit democratic principle in structure as were being followed by most of the churches in the world.

Advisory Council of Salvation Army Laymen (ACSAL):-

In order to take a step to move such kind of a bit democratic structure in the Army, Advisory Council of Salvation Army Laymen (ACSAL) had come into being on 10.3.1994….. with the permission of International Headquarters, London with some representatives of Salvation Army Officers from Territorial Headquarters, Aizawl.

Territorial Council:-

As was proposed, Territorial Council was formed jointly both by Territorial Leaders of The Salvation Army and Leaders of TACSAL to make the way of developing the Salvation Army Ministry in the Territory… However, The Salvation Army having Army Administration at International level could not be adapted with the desires and zeal of the laymen people as envisioned in this area. So, we could not go further due to ideological differences between the Army and the ACSALs.

As such, differences between the two sides had gone higher and higher which compelled leaders of the Army to take action against laymen people who were dismembered from the Army and compelled them to have a new church in which the dreamed church administrative structure can be formed as they liked.

Salvation Church of India (SCI) Came into being:-

As stated above, not with prior intention, a new church named Salvation Church of India (SCI) had come into being with effect from the 2nd  October 2014 at Aizawl, at a Convention of one thousand delegates from different parts of Mizoram and around, well constituted and structured from the very beginning.
